About Media News Watch

Media News Watch is an independent digital newspaper covering Policy, Communication, Economics, Media and Business. Someone decides what a billion people are allowed to read, and it is rarely the person a reader would expect. It is part of VUGA Network, a group of independent digital publications published in the United States.

Analysis and explainers are the standing formats. A rule is set out clause by clause: what it obliges, who enforces it, the penalties, the compliance date and the parts that remain untested in court. Analysis then asks who benefited from the drafting.

What We Cover

Policy covers legislation and government proposals affecting information: online safety statutes, broadcasting and licensing rules, data protection, ownership limits and public media funding — written for policy staff, media lawyers and organizations that must comply with the result.

Communication examines how political messages are made and delivered: framing and message testing, audience targeting, spokesperson strategy and measurement of effect, drawing on persuasion research and saying where the evidence is thin.

Economics addresses how information is paid for — advertising markets and their concentration, subscription revenue, subsidy schemes, the collapse of local advertising — quantifying the shortfall in specific markets and examining which replacement models have measurable results.

Media News tracks bills, agency decisions, platform policy updates and transparency data, stating the stage reached and the next procedural step, while Business News reads earnings, acquisitions under review and disclosed lobbying for their policy consequences.

Standards

Neither platform statements nor advocacy claims are reproduced without checking against filings, transparency reports or the text itself. Speculation about intent is kept separate from what documents show.
